Accidentally didn’t pay at a restaurant, what should I do?

I was out in London yesterday and ate in a restaurant near Piccadilly Circus. I was eating solo, before travelling to a party in north London. My friend came and met me, I was already running quite late- we checked Citymapper and realised we needed to leave ASAP. We were talking so much and planning our journey, I completely forgot I hadn’t paid.

After a long night of drinking, I checked my bank balance to see the damage and realised I hadn’t paid. I called the restaurant and explained, and asked how I could pay. The girl on the phone was super confused, and didn’t really say anything. She put me on hold for two minutes and asked for my name and phone number. I haven’t heard anything back yet. Should I just leave it and wait for them to contact me? It was about £23

If I was local, I would go back to the restaurant. But it’s a two hour journey away from me.
I just feel bad because this has never happened to me before, I worried that the server might have gotten trouble. I don’t want the bad karma
