About the Department
Are you enthusiastic about delivering an exceptional university experience? Do you thrive in a forward-thinking, collaborative environment? If so, this is your chance to join the newly restructured Directorate of Student Life at Canterbury Christ Church University in an exciting role.

As the Academic Engagement Manager (Library), you will be a key figure within our highly respected Library Services Department. Following a strategic overhaul and the launch of our new library strategy, Our New Chapter, the department is adapting to meet the evolving challenges and opportunities in education, research, publishing, and information services.

What Does the Role Entail?
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Academic Engagement Manager (Library) to join our Student Life and Library Services team. This crucial position involves providing specialist leadership in shaping library services, embedding library skills training, and enhancing partnerships with academic departments to support both teaching and research.

You will oversee a team of Academic Librarians and an Open Research Librarian, ensuring services are strategically aligned with academic goals, adaptable to changing needs, and impactful for our students and researchers. Working closely with the University Librarian and other service managers, you will transform strategic objectives into actionable plans, spearhead projects and working groups, and advocate for the library across the university.

Who Are We Looking For?
The ideal candidate will offer extensive experience in academic liaison and relationship management within higher education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills will be essential to build connections across all levels of the university. You should have a demonstrable track record of motivating and developing teams, with the ability to inspire collaboration and drive results.

A comprehensive understanding of the higher education and research environment, along with an awareness of the library’s role in fostering academic success, is vital. The role also requires a flexible and innovative mindset, paired with strong planning, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities to deliver meaningful outcomes and long-term impact.

Our Approach to Working
We value flexible working arrangements wherever feasible. For this role, your attendance will vary day-to-day and throughout the year, aligning purposefully with the service needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. While remote working may be possible at times, the majority of your working hours are expected to be spent on campus.
