Specialist Focus: Timetabling and Further Education Student Records

This exciting opportunity involves working on some of the University’s most important student-facing systems, focusing on Timetabling and Further Education (FE) systems to help shape the digital experience for our learners.
About the Role:
As an Application Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting and evolving our corporate systems. Collaborating closely with teams across Digital Technologies and the wider University, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering expert third-line technical support for Timetabling and FE student record systems.
- Managing and implementing system updates, regulatory changes, and maintenance processes as part of established change control protocols.
- Working alongside business users, suppliers, and product managers to identify opportunities for system improvements and enhancements.
- Supporting academic lifecycle processes, including timetable scheduling, configuration, student enrolment, and ongoing staff and student support.
- Initially focusing on Timetabling systems, with an additional commitment to manage FE student records systems.
- Leading and line-managing one team member who specializes in FE systems.

What We’re Looking For:
- Essential Skills:
– Direct hands-on experience with Timetabling systems (either technical or functional). A functional background requires an aptitude for technology and eagerness to develop technical skills.
– Attention to detail, including a strong understanding of data structures and the ability to analyze complex data integration challenges.
– Proactive, organized, and confident in managing large, business-critical systems independently and collaboratively.
- Desirable Skills:
– Familiarity with student lifecycle processes in higher or further education.
– A willingness to learn and develop—we value potential and enthusiasm above all.
Additional Information:
- Location: This role is based at our City Site, with a hybrid working model requiring at least 2 campus-based days per week.
- Flexibility: Some work outside regular hours may be needed for system maintenance.
