Derby College Group is seeking a passionate individual for the role of Assistive Technology and Accessibility Lead. This rewarding position involves driving accessibility and inclusion for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across all college sites.
The Opportunity
As the Assistive Technology and Accessibility Lead, you will collaborate with teaching staff and support teams to explore and implement innovative assistive technologies, fostering a learning environment that is accessible to all students. Your role will encompass:
- Supporting the creation of adapted teaching materials, assessments, and accessible resources.
- Guiding students in using assistive tools to promote independence and confidence.
- Evaluating and managing assistive technology solutions to remove barriers to learning.
- Ensuring students can fully participate in their education and unlock their academic potential.

About You
You will bring a robust understanding of Additional Learning Support (ALS) and SEND to the role, along with experience supporting students with additional needs and fostering inclusive learning environments. Key attributes include:
- Ability to analyse complex situations, identify effective solutions, and implement impactful changes.
- Exceptional organisation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records.
- Proficiency in using data to evaluate performance and implement continuous improvements.
- Advanced digital skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365, accessibility software, and educational tools.
- Confidence in evaluating technologies and communicating technical information clearly to staff and students.
- Professionalism in handling challenging conversations, promoting high standards of service, and adhering to relevant legislation (e.g., SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act 2010).
