We are thrilled to enhance the support services offered by Aston University’s Student Life directorate. This directorate encompasses a variety of teams dedicated to providing extensive support to students through information, advice, guidance, counseling, disability and wellbeing support, as well as spiritual assistance across our physical and digital campuses. The Assistive Technology Office role is part of the Disability & Neurodiversity Support team within Student Life, crucial in fostering an inclusive environment for all students.
The Assistive Technology Officer’s responsibilities are twofold. The first involves the assistive technology component, where the officer will provide guidance and foundational training on common assistive software and built-in accessibility features. The second involves recruiting, training, and managing Aston’s in-house non-medical helpers, including sighted guides and notetakers. These duties are typically divided equally over the year, although the focus may shift at different times.
The successful applicant will collaborate closely with colleagues from various teams to design and deliver training, aiming to boost student confidence and independence. They will also engage in broader service and university-wide goals and initiatives.

Please note that the salary for this position is below the required minimum threshold for sponsoring new applicants under the Skilled Worker route. However, Aston University may sponsor a successful applicant if they meet one of the following criteria:

– Are currently in the UK with a Tier 2 or Skilled Worker visa
