University of Oxford

Are you a technology and data specialist eager to make a tangible impact on groundbreaking medical research?

The Medical Sciences Division IT Services at the University of Oxford is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Bioinformatician and Data Co-ordinator to play a pivotal role in supporting the digital infrastructure underlying biomedical research and biobank operations.

In this hands-on technical role, you will be the key expert managing platforms such as OpenSpecimen (LIMS), REDCap (data capture), and iPassport (quality management). You’ll configure, integrate, and maintain these systems to ensure seamless, secure, and compliant operations. Collaborating closely with researchers, lab teams, and IT colleagues, you will enhance data accuracy, platform resilience, and audit readiness across the division.

This opportunity allows you to showcase your technical expertise in a real-world environment where innovation in medical research aligns with strict compliance standards. Your contributions will directly support studies and operations governed by the Human Tissue Authority (HTA), enabling Oxford’s frontline biomedical research into health and disease to thrive.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience supporting systems like LIMS, EDC, or QMS in research or clinical settings.
  • Strong knowledge of system configuration, automation, and data integration (e.g., APIs, scripting).
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and data governance in regulated research environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working with OpenSpecimen, REDCap, or iPassport.
  • Scripting skills in SQL, R, or Python.

This is a technical and collaborative position, reporting to the Bioresource IT Service Manager, and you will work closely with a dynamic team of IT professionals supporting research across multiple departments.
