Job Summary:

As an integral part of our HR Technology and Analytics team, the Business Analyst will report directly to the Senior Director of HR Technology and Analytics. In partnership with HR function heads, this role is central to the innovation and efficient operation of HR information systems at Virginia Tech. This position ensures seamless, integrated, comprehensive information service offerings across the university.

Key Responsibilities:

– Oversee the implementation and support of shared IT systems and applications within the Division of Human Resources.
– Propel operational efficiency by identifying and effectuating system modifications and development projects.
– Manage IT projects from ideation through to successful deployment and completion, ensuring goals and results are achieved.
– Conduct HR business process analyses, driving continuous improvement in customer service and operational efficacy.
– Design and maintain sustainable reporting tools and documentation to enhance work efficiency and data accuracy.
– Uphold strict adherence to institutional and regulatory policies, safeguarding system, data, and institutional security.
– Undertake project management responsibilities as needed.

Essential Qualifications:

– An advanced degree or a combination of a Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience/certifications.
– Strong collaborative skills with a record of successful teamwork in a responsive and dynamic setting.
– Proficiency in HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle such as recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, and retirement.
– Expertise in deploying and maintaining large-scale software systems, including ERP and HCM platforms (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP).
– A history of leading business process enhancements within a substantial organization, demonstrating a strategic approach to operational redefinition.
– Aptitude in leading technical initiatives and mentoring non-technical colleagues.
– A commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Desirable Qualifications:

– In-depth understanding of HR processes in the context of the employee lifecycle.
– Prior involvement with higher education HR systems.
– Skill in determining customer needs and overseeing the development, implementation, or configuration of systems and applications.
– Experience in user training and the creation of both technical and end-user documentation.
– Familiarity with data regulatory standards in a higher education environment.
– Awareness of current HR technology advancements.
– Knowledge and application of project management methodologies.

Employment Details:

– This is a regular, full-time position.
– Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, with a cap at $100,000 annually.
– Review date: February 22, 2024.
