We are a globally recognized, research-driven institution renowned for delivering exceptional teaching and learning experiences. With a commitment to fostering the economic, social, and cultural growth of the North East of England, we play a key role in advancing the region. Our continued success is driven by our ability to attract and retain outstanding talent.

About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to join the BI, Analytics & Insights Team within Strategic Planning & Change at Newcastle University. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of institution-wide business intelligence solutions and influence the use of data and insight to support strategic decision-making at all levels.

In this role, you will work with a diverse and intricate array of higher education datasets, including student, research, staff, financial, and benchmarking data. Collaborating closely with colleagues across the University, you will assess business needs and deliver dynamic analytical solutions. This includes designing and implementing dashboards, reports, and modeling tools that enhance strategic planning, performance monitoring, and change initiatives.

As a business intelligence and analytics expert, you will be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing meaningful insights to help interpret complex data and enable evidence-based decision-making. Additionally, you will contribute to improving data quality and fostering best practices in data governance across the institution.

This is a full-time, permanent role.

About You
We are seeking an individual with a strong professional background in analytics, business intelligence, or data-focused roles, ideally within a large, complex organization. You should possess excellent skills in data visualization, analysis, and statistics, coupled with an interest in data governance and a proven track record in enhancing data quality.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with complex datasets and adept at presenting insights to senior stakeholders, translating analysis into actionable recommendations. We are particularly interested in candidates who are curious, collaborative, and passionate about utilizing data to drive better decision-making.

How to Apply
To apply, please submit your CV along with a cover letter detailing how your skills and experience align with the essential criteria outlined in the job description (available on the university’s website via the ‘Apply’ button).

The selection process will include a two-stage interview:

  • Stage 1 (19th March): An online presentation based on a pre-assigned task, allowing you to showcase your experience in working with data.
  • Stage 2 (27th March): A formal in-person interview held at Newcastle University’s main campus for those shortlisted from the first stage.
