University of Sussex

About the Role

This is an exciting new position for Sussex and a trailblazing opportunity within the sector, coinciding with a transformative phase for our web estate. As part of the newly established Digital team, you’ll take ownership of content architecture, building on the information architecture provided by our UX Design Manager. Your responsibilities will include managing and evolving the taxonomy of our new website, as well as overseeing the application and organization of content types and elements within a cutting-edge Content Management System (CMS).

Collaboration will be key as you deliver training on taxonomy principles and the development of fresh content types to colleagues involved in content creation across the University. Beyond this, you’ll work with stakeholders to optimize our content, ensuring it performs effectively and aligns with our vision for the website’s long-term success.

About You

You’re passionate about harnessing the power of well-organized, high-quality content to meet the diverse needs of users. You also thrive in environments where collaborative work leads to positive change, and you’re eager to promote a fresh, structured approach to content creation across the University.

If you enjoy organizing and categorizing large and evolving datasets—while appreciating how impactful content can be—you may find this role exciting. You’ll use your ability to communicate information clearly and effectively to ensure others grasp the principles of taxonomy and connected content models. This includes delivering concise training sessions that empower colleagues while actively managing the taxonomy itself, using analytical skills to continually assess and refine content structure.
