About JCQ

The JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) serves as the representative body for the top awarding organisations providing general and vocational qualifications across the UK. These organisations are responsible for designing and administering qualifications, such as GCSEs, AS and A Levels, as well as vocational qualifications.

JCQ’s mission is to streamline administrative processes for schools and colleges by developing and implementing efficient, shared arrangements for examinations. Working collaboratively with UK qualification regulators and government bodies, JCQ engages in various initiatives, including the publication of national GCSE and A-Level results. Operated as a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, JCQ is funded by its member organisations: AQA, City & Guilds, CCEA, NCFE, OCR, Pearson, and WJEC.


About the Role

The Data Analyst role at JCQ is a fixed-term position lasting 12 months. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Head of Data and Technical Standards (HDTS) to address key strategic priorities:

  • Improving Data Management and Governance: Ensuring data quality, security, compliance, privacy, and accessibility.
  • Enhancing Data Accessibility and Usability: Presenting and sharing results data in a user-friendly format to assist stakeholders in effective interpretation.
  • Advancing Data Analytics: Developing accessible, interactive outputs and using data-driven research to help improve JCQ’s services, resources, and stakeholder support.

About You

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and effective communication capabilities. They will work collaboratively with the HDTS on new initiatives designed to improve JCQ’s data services. Prior experience with national qualifications and assessment data, ideally within an awarding organisation, test agency, or government department, is highly desirable.
