About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join the innovative Brunel Centre team, driving forward regional economic research and development. The role is part of a pioneering initiative funded by the Research England RED Fund, delivered through a collaborative partnership between UWE Bristol, the University of Bath, and Futures West. The Brunel Centre will function as a key hub for economic data analysis, research, policy innovation, and knowledge exchange.

As the new Data Analyst, you will play a vital role in addressing real-time and long-term economic challenges within the West of England. A core responsibility of your position will involve designing, developing, and maintaining a cutting-edge, publicly accessible Data Hub and Observatory for the region’s economy.

In this role, you will:

  • Source, collect, and migrate data from economic, social, and environmental datasets.
  • Manage, clean, abstract, aggregate, and integrate diverse data sets.
  • Utilize tools and techniques for data analysis and visualization, including spatial data mapping technologies.
  • Transform complex data into summaries and presentations in accessible formats.
  • Contribute analytical expertise to various regional economic research projects.

About You
We are seeking a data analyst who is enthusiastic about applying analytical methods and tools to tackle complex economic challenges.

You will have:

  • A degree and postgraduate qualification in fields such as data science, mathematics, economics, or any comparable discipline utilizing advanced quantitative methods.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel and SQL, programming languages such as Python and R, and data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
  • Understanding and experience in data storage and management practices.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in collaborative settings and possesses strong communication skills, enabling them to translate complex datasets into actionable insights tailored to a variety of audiences.

  • Contract Details: This role is full-time (36.5 hours per week) and offered on a fixed-term basis, concluding on 30/05/2028.
