An exciting opening exists for a seasoned Data Engineer looking to become a part of a well-established team at a top-ranking UK university.
The role will entail using your expertise to leverage Azure Data Factory and DBT in designing, developing, and maintaining efficient and reliable data pipelines and scalable data models. You will combine various structured and unstructured data sources from across the university, ensuring data is secure and usable. Your efforts will play a pivotal role in crafting analytical environments such as data marts using a user-centered design strategy to satisfy diverse reporting and analytical requirements.
In this position, you will also guide users of varying expertise levels, helping them effectively utilize the data products your efforts bring into existence. This will directly boost data accessibility, enhance data quality, and amplify the university’s analytical competencies.
Your responsibilities will include:
– Data modeling and the development of robust data pipelines.
– Development and management of data models.
– Designing data products and managing the planning tool backlog, such as Jira.
– Crafting scalable and efficient data pipelines with Azure Data Factory.
– Using DBT for data transformation processes, ensuring consistent and high-quality data.
– Implementing and maintaining DataVault and Kimball-style data models for different user communities.
– Monitoring and optimizing the performance of data pipelines and warehouses.
– Establishing data security protocols and data quality validation processes.
– Collaborating with various stakeholders to address quality issues.
– Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation of data processes.
Required qualifications:
– A degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
– Significant experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in a cloud environment.
– Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms like Snowflake, Azure SQL DW, or AWS Redshift.
– Proficiency in DataVault and Kimball data warehousing methodologies.
– SQL expertise and proficiency in data querying for manipulation and analysis.
– Familiarity with data modeling and dimensional modeling concepts.
– Strong problem-solving and analytical aptitude.
– Excellent communication and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
