About the Role

Data Governance & Quality Officer
As the Data Governance & Quality Officer, you will play a key role in delivering UEL’s Data Governance Framework, ensuring that our data is managed as a vital institutional resource. You’ll partner with Data Owners, Stewards, and operational teams to enhance data quality, provide actionable insights, and foster a culture of data integrity, ultimately supporting the objectives of Vision 2028.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation and ongoing improvement of UEL’s Data Governance Framework, serving as a knowledgeable resource for its practical application.
  • Conduct data governance and quality investigations, working with Data Owners and Stewards to resolve issues and advance solutions following established pathways.
  • Create and maintain data quality, exception, and error reports, primarily using Power BI, to identify issues, track trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Manage data quality oversight across relevant domains, maintaining a comprehensive issues log with ownership, status, and action points.
  • Offer tools, guidance, and practical support to enable Data Owners/Stewards to meet governance and quality standards.
  • Advocate for consistent data quality standards, embedding best practices and fostering a culture of data integrity across the organisation.
  • Deliver regular insights on data quality and provide assurance updates to governance and strategy groups, contributing inputs and materials as required.

About You

You’re experienced in a data, information, governance, or reporting capacity and passionate about helping organisations manage data as a strategic asset. You’re adept at working with a variety of stakeholders to investigate and resolve data quality challenges, and you excel at communicating expectations to non-technical colleagues in a clear and practical way. You’re solutions-focused, highly organised, and skilled at creating effective reporting (e.g., Power BI) and tools like SQL to validate and interrogate data.
