Position Overview: Deputy Director of Learning Technologies

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various academic leaders to create and implement a digital learning vision and strategy, aiming to enhance the student experience and foster innovation.
  • Build and maintain partnerships within the university to advance digital learning design and delivery.
  • Develop guidelines, maintain standards, and evaluate digital tool usage.
  • Update the digital learning plan by coordinating with faculties and learning technology peers at other University of Nottingham campuses.
  • Select and integrate digital and AI learning technologies into educational practices.
  • Provide strategic development for digital learning at UNNC.
  • Offer university-wide leadership on digital learning, ensuring initiatives align with institutional plans.
  • Promote the adoption and integration of educational technologies across all teaching activities.
  • Establish and uphold best practices and standards for utilizing educational technologies.
  • Manage and nurture strategic relationships within the academic and professional services communities.
  • Align learning technologies with the curriculum, focusing on learning outcomes.
  • Encourage the community’s acceptance of new teaching and learning systems.
  • Manage the digital learning staff development program and lead communications strategies on campus.
  • Assist with the induction of new academic staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Network actively, attending conferences to promote the service and establish connections.
  • Spearhead digital education on cross-university projects.
  • Lead learning technology projects, define scope, and prioritize resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with professional certifications such as CMALT or FHEA considered an asset.
  • Minimum of five years of senior-level experience in educational technologies.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management Systems and other educational technologies.
  • Proven ability to develop communication and engagement strategies.
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities.
  • Expertise in blended and digital learning pedagogies.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Understanding of UK higher education and familiarity with East Asian academic contexts.
