About the Role
As the Director of IT, you will serve as a strategic leader within the university’s senior management team, reporting directly to the Chief Finance and Infrastructure Officer. Leading a talented and multidisciplinary team, you will develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that supports Goldsmiths’ academic vision and operational requirements.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring that the university’s IT infrastructure, systems, and services are resilient, secure, and capable of meeting the diverse needs of teaching, learning, research, and administration. Central to your role will be advancing Goldsmiths’ digital transformation agenda, enhancing the student experience, and driving operational efficiency through cutting-edge technology.
Key domains under your leadership will include IT Architecture and Infrastructure, Information Security, Business Systems, Telecommunications, Digital Innovation, IT Operations, and User Support. You will foster a culture of innovation and service excellence, ensuring that IT services adapt and evolve to consistently meet the expectations of students, staff, and the wider academic community.
About You
You bring significant leadership experience within an IT function, ideally in complex and regulated environments. You have a proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategies aligned with organizational goals, with particular expertise in service improvement and digital transformation. Experience managing sizeable teams and budgets is essential, as is a thorough understanding of IT architecture, network security, and compliance requirements like GDPR.
A strong communicator and collaborator, you will engage with academic departments, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to deliver creative IT solutions that enhance Goldsmiths’ operations. You are passionate about continuous improvement and service excellence, ensuring Goldsmiths stays ahead of technological advancements in the higher education sector.
