Join the University of Liverpool Libraries, Museums, and Galleries (LMG) during an exciting period of growth and innovation! We are currently seeking a Head of Collections Stewardship and Research (maternity cover) to join our dynamic Cultural Heritage team, which encompasses the Victoria Gallery and Museum (VGM), the Garstang Museum of Archaeology and Egyptology, and Special Collections and Archives based at the Sydney Jones Library.

In this leadership role, you will work closely with the Deputy Director as part of their senior team, overseeing a holistic and strategic approach to service delivery. You will collaborate with and support a diverse range of professional and support staff, driving initiatives that enhance our collections and services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the strategic development and management of collections across archives, special collections, artworks, and museum artefacts.
  • Supporting the roll-out of a new collections management system, ensuring efficient and effective implementation.
  • Shaping and advancing research and digital scholarship efforts to enhance the visibility, usability, and accessibility of our collections.
  • Leading acquisition negotiations and making strategic decisions to enrich and expand our holdings.

Key Information:

  • This is a maternity cover position, expected to run from December 2025 to August 2026.
  • For current University of Liverpool staff, this opportunity may be considered as a secondment, subject to your line manager’s approval.
