We are on the search for an outstanding Head of Open Research Services to join our ambitious and forward-thinking Library and Cultural Services team. This is your chance to make a significant contribution to shaping the future of research at Manchester Met.


About the Opportunity

This role offers a unique opportunity to lead transformation while driving the development and delivery of the Manchester Met Research Strategy. In this role, you will:

  • Offer expert advice and guidance on open research, focusing on open access publishing, research data management, and research intelligence.
  • Lead efforts to strengthen institutional capacity for public engagement with research.
  • Play a vital role in the senior leadership team, shaping strategy, inspiring change, and delivering tangible impact.

About You

You are a confident, creative, and forward-thinking leader who understands the evolving potential in library and cultural services. Your background includes senior experience in a library, research, or cultural collections setting, accompanied by specialized knowledge of open research. With a proven track record of success in advancing research services, you bring:

  • A passion for innovation.
  • The ability to effectively engage with stakeholders.
  • Leadership, strategic planning, and team inspiration skills.
  • A talent for collaboration across departmental and sector-wide communities.
