We are seeking a dedicated Head of Programme to lead and manage the ACU’s role in delivering a UK government mobility scheme, collaborating with various UK partners. As one of the largest and most diverse international university networks—uniting over 400 universities in more than 40 countries—we are committed to harnessing higher education to improve lives and drive sustainable development across the Commonwealth and beyond.

Role Overview:
This pivotal role requires outstanding project and risk management skills, utilizing suitable tools to monitor and report on progress, dependencies, and risks, thereby ensuring confidence among the ACU senior team and partners. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to work swiftly on multi-partner projects and will collaborate with teams across External Affairs, People and Culture, Finance, Programmes, and International Mobility. You will lead a dedicated team comprising three ACU staff, four senior assessors, and 24 assessors to manage assessment processes, delivering on the programme’s policy objectives. You will report to the Head of Programmes and International Mobility and keep the ACU Leadership Team and partners updated regularly.

Who We Are Looking For:
Project Management:

  • Extensive senior-level project management experience with relevant qualifications
  • Expertise in risk management
  • Familiarity with theories of change, logical frameworks, and project monitoring and evaluation
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure

IT:

  • Strong knowledge of relevant IT/software, such as Excel
  • Expertise in data visualization and reporting for senior leadership

Financial Management:

  • Solid financial skills with experience in budget creation, monitoring, and reporting

Leadership/Team Management:

  • Proven ability to lead, empower, and motivate teams, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Demonstrated capability to work efficiently with a results-oriented approach
  • Strong personal accountability and clarity in communicating responsibilites to others
  • Strategic thinking with foresight on actions impacting partners, customers, and colleagues
  • Advocacy for integrated shared services and cross-team collaboration
