The Opportunity: Information Specialist
We are pleased to announce a career opportunity for an Information Specialist to join our skilled team and contribute to vital healthcare decision-making processes. This full-time or part-time role (minimum 60% FTE) is stationed at our hub in Escrick Business Park, near York, where our collective of Systematic Reviewers, Information Specialists, Health Economists, Statisticians, and Administrative staff convenes.
Key Duties:
- Initiate and execute sophisticated literature searches across numerous online databases, methodically recording search strategies for publication with a review team.
- Employ resources like MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Clinicaltrials.gov for comprehensive searches.
- Manage the acquisition and organization of references using EndNote, oversee search screening, and create bibliographies using MS Word.
- Perform critical assessment of search methodologies from NICE submissions and other documents.
- Sustain and enhance the KSR Evidence database, undertaking searches and filtering results.
- Execute preliminary searches at the request of commissioners.
- Stay updated with industry developments via electronic mailings and professional affiliations.
- Furnish support and information skills training to both internal colleagues and external parties.
What We Seek in You:
- Degree-educated in Librarianship, Information Science, or allied subjects; or possession of a Master’s in Information Studies or related disciplines.
- Extensive experience in a specialist health or medical library/information environment.
- Solid track record of performing literature searches across databases like MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Library.
- Proficiency with EndNote or similar reference management tools.
- Advanced IT skills, with documented ability to employ MS Office for proper documentation and record-keeping.
- Detail-oriented with the talent to function independently, showcasing exceptional communicative abilities.
- Aptitude to handle stress, prioritize duties, and comply with stringent deadlines.
