About Us

The Strategic Development & Delivery team at UEL works in collaboration with stakeholders across the university, leveraging specialist knowledge, sector insights, and institutional expertise to help achieve our vision for 2028 and beyond. As a newly established Directorate, this team is comprised of four core portfolios:

  • Insights & Decision Support
  • Strategy & Performance
  • Portfolio & Benefits
  • Change & Improvement

These service areas are crucial to enhancing decision-making processes, improving the staff and student experience, and driving positive, sustainable change across UEL.


About the Job

As an Institutional Modelling Manager, you’ll utilize your data expertise and tools to deliver high-quality insights that shape key institutional decisions. You’ll play a pivotal role in leveraging UEL’s data assets to model strategic plans and support the university in achieving critical business objectives. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and refining the Business Planning Model to produce snapshots, forecasts, and projections
  • Using data modelling to simulate business scenarios and provide strategic options
  • Identifying and utilizing new data sources and software to better understand institutional ambitions
  • Developing workflows to maximize efficiency in data analysis and output optimization
  • Applying data pipelines, automation, and integration techniques to strengthen decision-making capabilities
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to align institutional ambitions and articulate strategy effectively
  • Conducting horizon scanning to identify opportunities and enhance market competitiveness

About You

The ideal candidate will be experienced in designing and developing data models that empower decision-making and enable key processes. You’ll have strong technical expertise, which includes proficiency in ETL software, SQL, and other systems to adapt, enhance, and manage data models that align with institutional goals.

We’re looking for a creative problem-solver—an innovator who thrives on overcoming challenges with strategic thinking and forward-looking ideas. You’ll work as part of a new modelling team within the directorate, engaging with academic units and professional services to build synergies across our core service areas.
