Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused individual to join our Hardware & Logistics team within IT & Digital. At the heart of the University’s operations, IT & Digital drive our core objectives and play a key role in enhancing the staff and student experience. The Role

As part of the Hardware & Logistics team, you will serve as the face of IT & Digital at Manchester Met. For new staff members, your work will often represent their first interaction with IT—a pivotal moment where creating an excellent first impression is vital.

This campus-based role offers a fast-paced working environment where you’ll have the chance to significantly impact teaching, learning, and administrative activities for staff and students. Over time, your responsibilities will expand to include the delivery of change projects across the University. These projects may involve office relocations, setting up new IT labs, implementing IT-led initiatives, and upgrading technology in teaching spaces.

Please note: this is a fixed-term role based entirely on campus.


About You

We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for learning new technologies, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate complex or non-routine issues clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in tracking personal progress against plans and identifying further resources or actions when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse contacts and share information effectively.
  • Capability to diagnose IT & AV issues through user conversations, addressing varying levels of technical understanding.
  • Commitment to consistently offering customer-focused service, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Professional experience in identifying and solving IT or AV problems.
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships across departmental boundaries.
