About the Role
The University of Bolton in Manchester (UOBM) is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated IT Support Officer to join our team at the BASE site. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering first and partial second-line IT support for a wide range of troubleshooting tasks. This includes providing classroom support for academic staff and assisting students and staff with their IT requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive support for computer systems and networks.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and support hardware such as PCs, printers, audio-visual equipment, and IP telephones.
- Provide user assistance for Windows operating systems and active directory services.
- Resolve networking issues, including both ethernet and Wi-Fi.
- Support communications protocols and ensure optimal system performance.
Required Skills and Experience:
- A good educational background (BTEC or equivalent relevant experience).
- Experience in first-line IT support or a helpdesk role, with additional experience in audio-visual support.
- Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities across modern and legacy Windows operating systems.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues such as network and operating system configuration problems.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with a diverse range of users.
- Strong organisational abilities and the capacity to prioritise tasks effectively to deliver quality service.
- A keen interest in Information Technology with an eagerness to stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in the field.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with a variety of operating systems beyond Windows.
