Primary Responsibilities:

– Report to a designated supervisor and provide support for the district’s Systems Infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, virtualization, enterprise storage (SANs), backup and recovery systems, and Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Microsoft 365 Cloud Services).
– Install and offer technical support for a variety of technology including desktops, laptops, software applications, printers, and computer labs to faculty, staff, and administrators, through in-person visits, telephone, or remote tools.
– Act as a liaison between KCCD’s Managed Tier-1 Support Provider and the internal IT support teams at KCCD.
– Distinguished from Systems Support Specialist I by additional responsibilities in system administration.

Key Duties:

– Participate in installing and maintaining IT systems essential for device management, security, software patching, and deployment.
– Contribute feedback on system administration tools and processes.
– Support district-wide systems infrastructure.
– Utilize and maximize the capabilities of Active Directory for end-user support.
– Facilitate knowledge sharing and cross-training among College IT staff on managing the lifecycle of user devices.
– Lead or coordinate IT initiatives and standardized best practices for device patch management.
– Collaborate with the IT department to guarantee prompt resolution or escalation of technical issues.
– Manage help desk inquiries, update case tracking, and ensure completion of IT service requests.
– Promote and assist in the creation of self-help materials like knowledge base articles and training resources.
– Keep records and documentation for asset management and equipment replacement planning.
– Manage software license inventories and documentation.
– Prioritize and fulfill hardware or software service requests.
– Provide training and support to users on hardware and software usage.
– Respond to queries about hardware and software pricing and procurements.
– Assist in software installation, patch management, and inventory control.
– Engage in professional development to maintain job-relevant skills and knowledge.
– Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

– Associate degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field and at least 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in workstation, network, and server support. OR
– High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, plus 4 years of experience related to the duties outlined.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

– Strong understanding of enterprise-level IT systems and processes.
– Proficiency in Microsoft technologies, virtualization, networking, backup and recovery practices, and various hardware and software.
– Ability to perform various technical tasks, install software, understand technical documentation, train users, work independently or collaboratively, communicate effectively, and maintain effective working relationships.

Salary Information: Starting at $5,543.79 up to $7,833.24 monthly, with a maximum entry salary of $5,824.45 monthly.
