About Us – Library, Archives, and Learning Services

UEL’s Library, Archives, and Learning Services (LALS) is a diverse, student-focused department dedicated to delivering outstanding support and resources to our university and the broader community. With libraries at both our campuses offering a variety of study spaces, combined with extensive online resources, we strive to meet the needs of all our users. We are proud to be recipients of the Customer Service Excellence Award, with consistently improving student satisfaction through year-on-year growth in our National Student Survey (NSS) scores.


About the Role

We are seeking a Library and Digital Technology Assistant to play a critical role in ensuring that students and staff experience the best support and services the university has to offer. This position focuses on delivering exceptional front-line assistance, helping users make the most of library and IT resources, and fostering independent, empowered learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with inquiries about library and digital services while being a friendly and approachable presence.
  • Promoting students’ understanding and use of the library’s diverse resources.
  • Engaging in the day-to-day operations of LALS, working collaboratively within the customer services team and with other areas of the department to maintain high-quality services.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience in delivering high-quality customer service in a fast-paced, front-line environment.


About You

We’re looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Experience in providing outstanding customer service in a vibrant, fast-changing environment.
  • The ability to engage with a diverse student and research community in person and online, to ensure users fully understand and can access the resources available.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills to help address a wide range of queries and needs.

Your role will involve playing an active part in creating a supportive library and IT environment, championing excellent service for our wide-ranging user base.
