About the School/Service
The Library, Archives, and Learning Services (LALS) team at UEL delivers a customer-centric service designed to enrich the experience of everyone who engages with the University—students, staff, and the wider community. Operating across two campus libraries, we provide diverse study spaces, an extensive collection of digital resources, and innovative online services. LALS is proud to hold the Customer Service Excellence award, a testament to our commitment to outstanding service. We have also seen consistent improvements in our National Student Survey (NSS) scores, with students frequently praising the high quality of our customer service.
About the Role
The Library and Digital Technology Assistant is integral to providing exceptional front-line support to our diverse student and research community, ensuring users have the best possible experience when accessing library resources and digital tools. This role requires establishing a welcoming presence and addressing a variety of needs, including essential guidance for students as they navigate library services and develop independent learning skills.
We are seeking applicants with experience in delivering customer support in a fast-paced service environment. As part of the customer services team, you will play a key role in providing accessible and user-centered support, including offering advice on utilizing library resources effectively. The position also involves collaboration with other teams within LALS to deliver a consistent and high-quality standard of service, both in-person and online.
About You
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in supporting customers within a front-line service capacity and demonstrate a strong ability to engage with a diverse student population. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our users understand and can maximize the resources available to them, cultivating a positive and enriching experience for all.
In this role, you will actively contribute to day-to-day operations within LALS while working collaboratively with colleagues across the customer services team. Your focus will include delivering high-quality, inclusive, and customer-focused support for our students, researchers, and wider learning community, both on campus and online.
