About the School / Service: Library, Archives, and Learning Services (LALS)
The Library, Archives, and Learning Services (LALS) team at UEL delivers customer-focused support that enhances learning, teaching, and research for our university community. With libraries at two campuses offering a variety of study spaces and robust online resources, we make learning both accessible and enjoyable.

About the Role
This position within the Customer Services team at LALS focuses on delivering outstanding customer support for library, archives, and open-access IT services, catering to a diverse community of learners, educators, and researchers.

The role involves using excellent customer service and communication skills to respond to face-to-face and online queries. You’ll provide guidance on utilizing library resources, facilities, and services, as well as offering frontline IT support for issues like printing, Wi-Fi access, Office 365, e-submission, and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Complex inquiries may require referral to specialist teams or external services.

Other responsibilities include maintaining a conducive study environment by troubleshooting equipment issues, reporting maintenance or safety concerns, and collecting data and feedback to improve services.

In collaboration with your LALS colleagues, you’ll also support core library services and processes, such as stock management, digital reading lists, UEL’s free e-textbook scheme, and interlibrary loans. Additionally, you’ll take part in events and outreach initiatives designed to promote LALS and its contribution to the UEL community.


About You
You bring a background of strong customer service skills, refined through experience in a library or similar service-oriented environment.

Tech-savvy and proficient in digital tools such as Office 365, you excel at guiding others in using IT and digital resources. You’re a confident communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of adapting your style to suit various audiences.

You’re a supportive team player, known for your collaborative spirit and flexible approach to working with colleagues. Your proactive attitude and problem-solving mindset, coupled with attention to detail and effective workload management, make you a standout professional.
