Health Sciences University (HSU): Formerly AECC University College
Health Sciences University (HSU) is a specialist institution in health sciences, dedicated to providing outstanding education, cutting-edge clinical care, and impactful applied research.

Following the recent approval of our university title “HSU” in July 2024 and the integration of the University College of Osteopathy into the HSU community from August 1, 2024, we are embarking on an exciting phase of growth and transformation across our campuses in Bournemouth and central London.

At HSU, we are guided by a strong and inclusive values-driven ethos, inspired by our mission to “create a healthier society through education, research, and clinical care.” Our dedicated staff and students work together in a supportive and inclusive environment. Currently, we are progressing through our Strategic Plan 2021-2026: Fit for the Future, which will soon be updated to reflect these institutional changes.

HSU offers a diverse and expanding range of academic programs and research opportunities in allied health and related disciplines, which are complemented by significant CQC-registered clinical and imaging services. These facilities not only provide high-quality care to our staff, students, and local communities but also offer students hands-on, practice-based learning experiences directly on campus. This fosters valuable collaborations with local and regional NHS partners and establishes a robust, data-rich research foundation for students, academics, and external collaborators.

Partnership is a key pillar of our institution. As an agile and collaborative higher education and clinical care provider, we respond effectively to the educational, clinical, and workforce needs of our stakeholders while supporting local communities as a trusted anchor institution. As our presence grows in Dorset and London, we aim to adopt a more strategically informed approach to partnership building, further solidifying our position as a multi-professional center of excellence for healthcare education, clinical care, and research locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

We are proud to provide a vibrant, inclusive, and inter-professional learning and practice environment enriched by a caring community that fosters growth and development.
