The Role and the Department
At Durham University, equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) are crucial to achieving our mission. By embedding EDI principles into our strategy and values, we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive both professionally and socially.
The EDI Team is seeking to appoint a Personal Support Worker under the Access to Work scheme. This role will provide specialist assistance to a colleague with sight loss, enabling them to perform their duties effectively by delivering tailored administrative support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Attending meetings and taking detailed notes.
- Reading and summarising lengthy documents.
- Assisting with data entry tasks.
- Converting documents into accessible formats.
- Offering other specialised assistance as required.
The role requires the ability to travel across university sites and to provide support to an individual who is also a guide dog user.
This part-time position is for 12 hours per week, with flexibility to work in a hybrid arrangement (remote and on-site). The working schedule will be determined in consultation with the colleague being supported, ensuring their needs are prioritised.
