Exciting Opportunity: Data Analyst Role in the Strategic Planning Office

Are you an experienced data analyst and an exceptional communicator, adept at transforming insights into impactful actions? Join our Strategic Planning Office and play a vital role in supporting Manchester Metropolitan University’s annual reporting cycle while contributing to the delivery of its visionary Strategic plan.

About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and reporting on key data sources, including the University’s Key Performance Indicators, league tables, National Student Survey, and Graduate Outcomes. You will adopt an end-to-end approach to reporting, covering everything from data sourcing and processing to creating visualizations and writing committee papers.

Your role will involve presenting insights and complex information to diverse audiences, often collaborating directly with senior colleagues to bridge the gap between data insights and strategic decision-making. By engaging with colleagues across the University, you will help translate data findings into actionable strategies that align with our core goals of delivering excellent education and impactful research outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply analytical techniques to uncover insights and ensure effective communication of findings through Power BI reports, committee papers, and presentations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with academic and central service colleagues to ensure the timely delivery of data and insights.
  • Process and manage key institutional data sources to support the University’s reporting cycle.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Strong ability to balance competing demands, manage expectations, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and operating a data reporting cycle within a similarly complex organization.
  • Proven expertise in integrating multiple data sources to deliver clear and consolidated management information.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex datasets to extract actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

About the Team
The Corporate Data and Insight Team plays a crucial role in advancing the University’s institutional strategy. Through data monitoring, student life cycle analysis, and strategy evaluation, the team ensures evidence-based support for achieving Manchester Metropolitan University’s ambitious goals.
