About the Role

The Equity in Doctoral Education (EDEPI) project is dedicated to improving access to and participation in postgraduate research (PGR) for racialised groups. A collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, Sheffield Hallam University, and Liverpool John Moores University, the programme addresses systemic inequalities by targeting critical stages such as recruitment, admissions, and transition in doctoral education.

Now in its final phase, EDEPI has already made significant strides by:

  • Developing and piloting a new work-based partnership approach to PGR recruitment alongside NHS trusts in Nottingham, Sheffield, and Liverpool,
  • Co-producing an innovative, competency-based PGR admissions framework in collaboration with the UK Council for Graduate Education and key stakeholders,
  • Implementing and evaluating this new admissions framework,
  • Delivering tailored workshops to support postgraduate researchers, as well as supervisors and professional services staff from racialised groups.

We are now seeking a Programme Manager to oversee the evaluation and dissemination of the project’s outcomes. In this role, you will embed best practices into institutional systems, support the community of doctoral candidates recruited via the project, collate key results, contribute to the national evaluation led by King’s College London, and write the final report to demonstrate the programme’s impact and success.

About the Funding
EDEPI is funded by the Office for Students and Research England, as part of their initiative to enhance access to postgraduate research programmes for Black, Asian, and minority ethnic students.

Job Purpose

As Programme Manager, you will:

  • Work across the consortium’s three universities, managing engagement with external stakeholders, including the funder, NHS Trusts, Royal College of Nursing, and the UK Council for Graduate Education.
  • Provide leadership during the evaluation and dissemination phase.
  • Ensure the effective embedding of inclusive practices in admissions and recruitment processes.
  • Deliver tailored support for the community of doctoral researchers recruited through the project.
  • Compile data to inform the national evaluation.
