Liverpool John Moores University

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) stands as a distinctive institution deeply rooted in the Liverpool City Region, with a growing global presence. Our students and staff—past, present, and future—are the lifeblood of our city, contributing their talents across industries and communities far and wide. We are inseparably connected to Liverpool, having shaped the city we call home. Improving lives and supporting communities has been central to our mission since our foundation, and it remains fundamental to our purpose today.

The University Library is now seeking an enthusiastic, approachable, and adaptable individual to join our team, focused on providing resource discovery and access support for our collections. This pivotal professional role is essential to delivering services and support that align with our strategic priorities.

In this role, you will oversee and enhance resource discovery activities within the Library. Key responsibilities include utilizing metadata effectively and ensuring systems like the resource discovery platform, digital content system, and relevant areas of the library management system are user-friendly, accessible, and optimized for efficiency. You will manage user access and authentication processes with a primary focus on OpenAthens, while proactively supporting innovation and development across these systems.

Candidates for this position should hold a degree (or equivalent) and, ideally, a professional qualification in library and information management or a related discipline. Familiarity with standards such as Dewey, MARC21, and RDA, along with experience in library discovery systems, is expected.

Currently, this is a hybrid role, combining on-campus work with remote working opportunities.

For informal inquiries, please reach out to Maria Follett, Content and Open Research Manager, at [email protected].

In return, LJMU offers an excellent benefits package, including generous annual leave, a pension scheme, induction and development opportunities, as well as family-friendly policies.

Joining LJMU at this time is especially exciting as we deliver our LJMU Strategy 2030, embodying our vision as an inclusive civic university dedicated to transforming lives and futures by putting students at the center of all we do.

If this role aligns with your aspirations, experience, and skills, and you are ready to make a meaningful impact at Liverpool John Moores University, we encourage you to apply.
