The Role
As Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you will:
- Provide technical leadership over the University’s Microsoft cloud platforms, focusing on their configuration, management, and optimisation.
- Design and maintain secure, scalable landing zones and manage infrastructure-as-code to support business-critical workloads.
- Collaborate with technical teams, project managers, and solution architects to deliver cost-effective, resilient cloud environments in line with the University’s vision.
- Actively monitor platform performance, security, and usage, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing automation where applicable.
- Lead the implementation of governance frameworks, tagging standards, policies, and access control models to ensure robust cloud management.
- Offer expert support, mentoring, and guidance to other technical staff using or supporting cloud-hosted services.
About You
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
- Strong hands-on expertise with core cloud services across Azure and AWS (e.g., networking, storage, compute, security, identity).
- Proficiency with tools like Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Bicep, ARM, Terraform) and automation frameworks such as PowerShell or Azure CLI.
- A solid understanding of cloud security principles, governance practices, and cost management.
- The ability to effectively influence and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A commitment to continuous learning, staying updated with evolving cloud engineering best practices to meet organisational needs.
