About the Role
Join Loughborough University and immerse yourself in a dynamic, forward-thinking community. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Database Administrator to join our dedicated Database Administration (DBA) team.

As a core member of the Database Team, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining and enhancing the performance, reliability, and security of our database infrastructure, helping the University deliver its mission by:

  • Delivering high-quality database support and services for students, staff, and researchers.
  • Ensuring data integrity, scalability, and availability across critical systems.

In this role, you’ll lead daily management, optimisation, and automation of our Oracle and SQL Server environments. You’ll also be instrumental in driving transformative digital projects, including migration to cloud platforms and implementing cutting-edge best practices for backup, recovery, and security.

About IT Services

About You
We’re searching for someone with:

  • Extensive experience managing enterprise-grade database systems, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Expertise in performance tuning, backup and recovery, and cloud-based database architecture.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex database and performance issues effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for sharing knowledge across IT teams and the university.
  • A relevant degree alongside professional IT qualifications and substantial practical experience.
