A job opportunity has arisen at University Information Services (UIS) for the role of Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) Analyst. We are seeking candidates with a background in incident response and hands-on experience with security technologies and solutions.
As part of the Security Operations team, you will collaborate with analysts and engineers to provide cybersecurity support for the University’s ~60,000 students and staff. Your work will involve navigating the complexities of a large-scale organization, addressing diverse challenges that evolve to meet emerging threats and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities as a CSIRT Analyst:
- Identify, monitor, and respond to cybersecurity attacks or incidents.
- Utilize enterprise cybersecurity tools (such as Microsoft, Trellix, and FortiNet) for data analysis, and adapt these tools to align with shifting demands.
- Conduct research and implement cutting-edge cybersecurity capabilities to strengthen the University’s security measures.
- Partner with IT teams across the University to detect and resolve security issues.

- Proven experience with incident response and resolution.
- Practical knowledge of cybersecurity tools and solutions.
- An aptitude for analyzing data and uncovering attack vectors.
- A proactive approach to learning and adapting cybersecurity technologies.
- The ability to adhere to established processes while showing creativity and initiative in pursuing unconventional investigative paths.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of addressing diverse audiences.
- The ability to remain calm and focused during critical incidents.
This role equally balances incident response duties with the development of security capabilities. While incident response will be a key priority, we welcome applicants with varied security expertise and interests that can enhance the strengths of the existing team.
Additional Information:
- This is a hybrid role based at the University Information Services building on the West Cambridge Site.
