Position: Senior Systems Engineer (Data)
Contract: Full-Time (1.0 FTE), 37 hours per week
Location: Hybrid role based primarily at our Pittville campus, with occasional travel to Cheltenham and Gloucester sites.

Be part of an exciting chapter in our digital evolution at the University of Gloucestershire. Our IT Services department is composed of two innovative teams—Digital Services and IT Operations—working together to support, improve, and transform the University’s digital and physical environment.

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer (Data) to lead our Data Team and drive forward cutting-edge advancements across the institution.


About the Role

This is a dynamic leadership position within the Digital Services team, where you’ll play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and delivering high-quality data products and integrations to meet the growing needs of our diverse University community.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Data Team, serving as a trusted technical expert.
  • Manage both on-premises and cloud-based systems, ensuring the University’s data infrastructure is secure, scalable, and future-focused.
  • Design and enhance data pipelines, integrations, and APIs, leveraging modern technologies and best practices to deliver reliable and high-value solutions.
  • Collaborate across IT Services and the University to enable data-driven decision-making and foster innovation.
