The University of the West of Scotland invites applications for a strategic role within our Planning team, based in Paisley, for a commitment of 35 hours per week on a fixed term basis lasting 12 months. This pivotal team is instrumental in shaping the University’s direction through the development and execution of business intelligence that informs decision-making at institutional levels. The successful applicant will spearhead our interactions with the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and oversee the compilation and delivery of the University’s Data Futures statutory reports to HESA. This position is crucial for ensuring timely and accurate submissions of both mid-year and end-year returns as standard procedure.
As the ideal candidate, you will exhibit excellent stakeholder management capabilities and a zeal for enhancing policy and performance through the strategic application of business intelligence. Your role will involve offering critical advice and insight concerning statutory reporting decisions.
Your responsibilities will entail leading the drafting and submission processes for:
– The University’s HESA Student (Data Futures) returns, guaranteeing regular and punctual submissions of all required mid-year and end-year returns.
– The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) Early Statistics and Final Figures returns.
You will be expected to make valuable, expert contributions during both internal and external assemblies, foster diverse viewpoints, and effectively engage with senior peers to negotiate and secure outcomes that align with our institution’s objectives.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
– Possession of a degree or an equivalent educational qualification.
– Proven experience in managing statistical return preparations for a regulatory body.
– Expertise in refining data to meet the regulations for statistical returns.
– The ability to understand and implement complex regulations and guidelines.
– Demonstrated ability to influence strategic decisions.
– Skill in querying complex databases, such as student records systems.
– Proficiency in overseeing intricate projects involving multiple functional and technical areas.
