About the Role
Are you a skilled reporting expert looking to drive how student data informs decisions at a globally renowned institution?
As the Student Lifecycle Reporting Manager, you will lead the design and delivery of impactful reporting and analytics solutions, supporting students at every stage—from enrolment through to completion. Key to this role will be your ability to enhance our reporting strategy and introduce a lasting self-service model using Microsoft Power BI and Fabric.
This is a pivotal and hands-on role within the Registry team. You will collaborate across academic departments and professional services, ensuring student data is accessible, trusted, and utilized effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Within this position, you will:
- Manage the student lifecycle reporting backlog, ensuring that requests are clearly defined, prioritised, and aligned to institutional goals.
- Oversee a structured process for intake and assessment of new reporting requests, considering feasibility, impact, and business value.
- Act as the liaison between Registry, academic departments, and ICT, translating functional needs into sustainable reporting solutions.
- Develop, shape, and maintain Power BI/Fabric dataflows, datasets, and workspaces to support centralised and self-service reporting options.
- Create and manage a robust student lifecycle Data Dictionary to promote confident and consistent data usage university-wide.
- Support the shift to a mature self-service reporting environment, encouraging knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an individual who blends technical expertise with effective stakeholder engagement skills.
Required skills and experience:
- Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders to gather, refine, and prioritise reporting requirements.
- Experience managing reporting backlogs with competing priorities in a complex organisational setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, including dataflows, workspaces, permissions, and governance frameworks.
- Expertise in designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Power BI datasets and semantic models.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical language, ensuring accessibility for all audiences.
- Awareness of data privacy principles, especially when handling sensitive personal information.
- Strong collaboration, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage expectations and constraints diplomatically.
Preferred qualifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300) or comparable technical experience is essential.
- Familiarity with Power BI Fabric or similar enterprise-level self-service BI environments is advantageous.

The position reports to the Head of Student Systems within Registry and involves close collaboration with Student Administration teams, ICT, and academic departments to ensure reporting outputs align with university objectives and operational requirements.
