The Opportunity:
About the Role
As a Subject Specialist (Infrastructure), you will bring your wealth of experience in delivering IT services to strengthen our dynamic Advice Team. You’ll have hands-on expertise with infrastructure technologies alongside knowledge of IT service management and governance frameworks. Familiarity with ITIL, Cyber Essentials, ISO27001, and disaster recovery planning will be advantageous in this role.
We’re seeking someone with a collaborative and open-minded attitude—a professional who can work alongside IT specialists to shape the advice and guidance Jisc provides to its members across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Support Services: You will lead the delivery of our Infrastructure Review service and other member support offerings, ensuring their effectiveness and relevance.
- Sector Engagement: Create and publish regular blogs and digital content focusing on digital infrastructure to foster conversations within the sector.
- Problem-Solving: Gain a deep understanding of the challenges and needs facing IT managers and technical support staff.
- Knowledge Sharing: Design and deliver engaging workshops, webinars, and training sessions for online and in-person audiences.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Extensive expertise in delivering IT technical support services within medium or large organizations.
- Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in deploying and managing digital communication networks (wired and wireless technologies).
- Communication: Ability to write concise reports that summarize key discussions and provide actionable recommendations.
- Critical Thinking: Strong ability to extract and analyze vital information, making sound judgments and providing effective advice.
Desirable Skills:
While not required, the following skills would be a plus:
- Experience working in Higher Education, Further Education, or public sector environments.
- Knowledge of technologies such as Hyper-V, VMware, firewalls, digital security, public and private cloud services.
- Familiarity with ITIL, Cyber Essentials, or ISO27001.
