We are currently seeking a Technical Lead for Cloud and Security to join our IT Services department, playing a vital role in supporting the University’s teaching, research, and administrative activities through a reliable and high-performing IT infrastructure.

About the Role

As a Technical Lead, you will provide expert leadership in public cloud technologies and information security within the Cloud and Storage Services team. Collaborating closely with other technical leaders through the Technical Architecture and Leadership group, you will contribute to the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of core IT services.

Key responsibilities include shaping the University’s technical strategy, overseeing day-to-day service delivery, and driving service development through various projects. You will engage with a range of technologies, working in partnership with stakeholders, architects, colleagues, and external suppliers to ensure seamless system integration and efficient operations.

The Cloud and Storage Services team oversees critical University systems such as the Hybrid Cloud, Scality Secondary Storage, HFS (Storage Protect) Backup, and CrashPlan. The role also extends to supporting third-party cloud services, including AWS and Microsoft Azure.

About You

We are looking for someone with proven experience in leading technical teams, a solid understanding of IT service management, and expertise in managing IT systems throughout their life cycle. You should be skilled at developing IT operations strategies that align with organisational goals and adapt to emerging technologies. Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, are essential.
