The Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford is seeking a Bioinformatics Pipeline and Data Manager to join the Multiomics Technology Platforms (MTP) team, led by Dr. Paolo Piazza. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal part in managing and advancing computational infrastructure that supports cutting-edge multiomic technologies such as next-generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and proteomics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process raw data generated across MTP platforms and transform it into formats suitable for downstream analysis and delivery to collaborators.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize automated bioinformatics pipelines, integrating new tools and technologies as needed.
- Manage data storage, transfer, and archival securely and in accordance with institutional policies.
- Conduct quality control analyses, generate clear QC reports, maintain accurate technical documentation, and draft standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with wet lab scientists, bioinformaticians, and project managers to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Provide technical advice, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the development of scientific outputs such as publications and grant applications.
- Participate in departmental and university training sessions, as well as public engagement activities.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- An MSc or equivalent qualification in Human Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in Unix and experience working in a high-performance computing (HPC) environment.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining automated workflows and pipelines using tools such as Snakemake, Nextflow, or equivalents.
- Solid understanding of genomics, next-generation sequencing, and/or multiomics technologies.
Desirable Skills:
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or R.
- Experience working with multiomic datasets.
- Familiarity with data portals or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) integration.
