The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts

Business Systems Manager
Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

LIPA is globally recognised as a leading centre of excellence for creative learning and vocational training in the performing arts and creative industries. Our ethos is built on collaboration, innovation, and creativity, fostering an environment where artists and cultural entrepreneurs are equipped to meet the ever-changing demands of these dynamic sectors.

We strive for excellence in everything we do, and we’re seeking an inspiring, forward-thinking, and inclusive leader to join our team and contribute to the growth of the next generation of performers, creative professionals, and entrepreneurs.

About the Role
At LIPA, creativity is at the core of our work, but behind the scenes, it’s our systems that drive our operational success. We are now looking for a Business Systems Manager to lead the development, enhancement, and management of the critical systems that power what we do. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about problem-solving, improving systems, and shaping the future of technology within our organisation.

This is not just a maintenance role. As Business Systems Manager, you’ll play a hands-on role while driving meaningful change. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhancing, integrating, and supporting core business systems on a daily basis.
  • Leading projects that implement new solutions and deliver system improvements.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across all levels in the organisation.
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities to modernise and innovate our technology approach.

As you build trust and credibility across the organisation, you’ll also help shape our long-term business systems strategy, influence decisions on technology investments, and contribute to significant organisational transformation.

Key Responsibilities
The role involves a mixture of day-to-day management, strategic planning, and relationship building. Key focus areas include:

  • Leading the implementation and continuous improvement of business systems aligned with LIPA’s strategic objectives, particularly our newly adopted TechnologyOne platform.
  • Supporting and optimising the existing portfolio of systems to ensure they are effective and fit for purpose.
  • Acting as the key point of communication between technical teams and end-users, bridging gaps in understanding.
  • Managing projects from initial concept through to full implementation.
  • Driving improvements in data, reporting, and business intelligence capabilities.
  • Building strong partnerships with external suppliers and system vendors.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including data protection and reporting obligations.

One day, you may find yourself troubleshooting a system issue or supporting a colleague in configuring a solution. The next, you could be collaborating with our CEO or COO to develop organisational dashboards that inform key decisions.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re searching for a dynamic individual who has the technical knowledge, problem-solving mindset, and leadership capability to truly make a difference. Specifically, we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience managing business systems in a complex organisational setting.
  • Proficiency in both hands-on technical work and broader functional planning.
  • The ability to translate business needs into practical, effective system solutions.
  • A passion for problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Previous experience managing colleagues, projects, or vendors.
  • Confidence communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with the Microsoft suite, enterprise systems, and reporting tools—as well as an understanding of data protection and governance—would also be advantageous.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative, creative, and inclusive work environment where your contributions directly support our mission.
  • Hybrid working arrangements (~60% on-site).
  • Generous pension and benefits, with LIPA contributing 16.48% of your salary to your pension scheme alongside an 8.6% employee contribution.

If you’re someone who thrives on being hands-on, solving challenges, and driving positive impact, we’d love to hear from you!
