We are looking for a Digital Systems Manager to join the Faculty of Natural Sciences Digital Services Team at Imperial College London. In this unique and dynamic role, you will be exclusively dedicated to the internationally renowned Target Malaria project, contributing your skills to advance collaborative scientific research among partner institutions across Africa, Europe, and North America.
You will take the lead in developing, managing, and enhancing the digital systems that underpin Target Malaria’s operational, scientific, and regulatory goals. These systems include Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and the Power Platform, which you will optimize to deliver secure, intuitive, and effective digital solutions for the project’s diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities
As the designated digital systems expert for the Target Malaria project, you will collaborate with researchers, stakeholders, and professional support teams to deliver impactful IT solutions. Your key tasks will include:
- Leading the design, governance, and continuous improvement of the project’s Microsoft Power Platform and SharePoint environments.
- Managing and enhancing solutions built with Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI, such as the project’s Quality Management System application.
- Analyzing operational and research requirements to deliver tailored digital solutions and streamline processes.
- Overseeing ICT access, security, and identity management processes to ensure compliance with institutional standards.
- Providing user training, guidance, and ongoing support for Microsoft 365 and Power Platform tools.
- Acting as a senior escalation point for complex technical challenges while offering expert advice to stakeholders.
- Supporting IT asset tracking and inventory management processes.
- Collaborating with Imperial’s ICT Division, Digital Services team, and the project’s international partners in a multicultural and distributed environment.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and solution-oriented digital systems professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders from varied backgrounds.
Essential qualifications include:
- Extensive experience in administering Microsoft 365 services, particularly SharePoint Online, Teams, and identity/access management.
- Proven expertise in developing and managing Power Platform solutions, such as Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
- Comprehensive understanding of digital collaboration tools, information governance, and cybersecurity best practices.
- A background in delivering technical support, training, and guidance to users with diverse technical skill levels.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, enabling you to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating in complex project or research-oriented environments.
Additional desirable skills:
- Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL), IT asset management, and Microsoft security/compliance tools.
About the Role
Target Malaria is a not-for-profit international research consortium focused on developing innovative genetic technologies to reduce malaria transmission. This cutting-edge project unites scientists, operational teams, and professional specialists across Africa, Europe, and North America with a shared mission of advancing safe, evidence-based, and responsible scientific innovation.
This role is based at Imperial College London’s South Kensington Campus, with occasional travel to the Silwood Park Campus in Ascot. The position is full-time and fixed-term until 31 December 2029, with the potential for extension depending on funding and project needs. Staff are expected to work onsite approximately 60% of the time.
