Graduate Trainee Librarian Position – Full Time (36.25 Hours per Week)

Magdalene College, one of the older and smaller Cambridge colleges, is home to approximately 350 undergraduates and 200 postgraduates. Despite its size, the College offers the full Tripos, encompassing all academic subjects. The Library department features the award-winning New Library that opened in 2022, alongside the Archive, Gallery, and the historic Old Library and Pepys Library.

About the Role:
The Graduate Trainee Librarian will join a small and welcoming team in the College Library in this one-year, fixed-term role. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to explore librarianship or related information services as a career, providing invaluable experience in an academic library environment. As a training post, it is designed for candidates aiming to gain experience in the field rather than those already possessing extensive library qualifications or experience.

The role includes assisting with a variety of daily tasks and projects within the College Library, contributing significantly to the library’s operations and development. Trainees will also have opportunities to engage in routine and project work within the College’s historic libraries and Archive. Additionally, they will have the chance to undertake a tailored trainee project aligned with their interests and participate in dedicated professional development sessions as part of the Cambridge Libraries trainee group.

Salary and Benefits:
This full-time position (36.25 hours per week) offers a salary of £24,149 per annum, with a pending cost-of-living adjustment. The role also comes with excellent benefits, including:
