About IT Services
IT Services at UEL is a centralized department that works in partnership with the wider University community to revolutionize UEL’s digital ecosystem in line with Vision 2028, our strategic roadmap for the future. We lead pioneering initiatives in a rapidly evolving cloud-based environment, collaborating with staff, students, partners, and other key stakeholders to enhance the University’s learning and working platforms. Our team develops, implements, and supports a range of innovative systems and services contained within UEL’s IT Service Portfolio.

About the Role: Head of IT Operations & Delivery
We are looking for a strategic and experienced Head of IT Operations & Delivery to provide senior leadership across UEL’s core IT service and delivery functions.
This pivotal role includes overseeing diverse technical teams in areas such as application development and support, infrastructure, networking, end-user computing, and system integrations. The goal is to ensure that UEL’s IT services remain secure, robust, cost-efficient, and aligned with the University’s strategic ambitions.
As the Head of IT Operations & Delivery, you will drive operational excellence while overseeing service performance, governance, and delivery planning across a complex and evolving digital estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead multi-disciplinary technical teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Support team managers and leaders in ensuring accountability, professional growth, and succession planning.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive workforce planning, including recruitment, retention, and upskilling initiatives.
- Maintain service availability, performance, and recoverability across cloud and on-premise platforms.
- Manage ITIL-aligned processes, including incident, problem, change, and release management.
About You
You are a dynamic IT leader with extensive operational experience and a passion for delivering resilient, high-quality services in complex environments.
What You’ll Bring:
- Comprehensive experience in leading multi-functional IT teams (including applications, infrastructure, networking, integrations, and end-user computing).
- Strong expertise in IT service management and ITIL-aligned best practices.
- Exceptional knowledge of cloud and hybrid service delivery.
- Proven ability to translate strategic goals into effective operational frameworks.
- Outstanding communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Proactive problem-solving approach, with a track record of navigating complexity and balancing competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influence at senior levels.
