About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional leader to define and drive the strategic direction for Quality Assurance within a complex academic environment. This position requires a forward-thinking, confident leader to influence senior stakeholders, inspire cultural change, and guide teams through a transition to agile delivery models, continuous improvement, and user-focused service design.
You’ll be responsible for shaping QA practice, building team capacity, and aligning quality strategies with the University’s long-term objectives while contributing to the success of major digital projects.
About You
We’re looking for an individual who embodies strategic vision, exemplary leadership, and a proven ability to operate within a complex organisational landscape. Ideally, you bring:
- Education: A degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Strategic Expertise: A demonstrated ability to align QA direction with organisational priorities, and to lead through periods of change with clarity and purpose.
- Leadership Skills: Capability to guide teams in adopting agile methodologies, embedding continuous improvement practices, and nurturing collaboration across disciplines.
- Extensive QA Experience: Proven success as a QA/Test Manager in a sizeable organisation, including defining scope, managing resources, overseeing budgets, and ensuring effective delivery of programmes and projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Outstanding communication skills, with expertise in navigating the complexities of an academic context and building strong relationships at all levels.
- Vendor & Budget Oversight: Proven ability to manage suppliers, substantial budgets, and personnel within a project or programme setting.
- Team Development: Demonstrable experience in empowering teams through objective setting, coaching, performance management, and professional development.
- Strategic Alignment: A strong track record of distilling diverse QA requirements into clear strategies, actionable architectures, and successful project or programme outcomes.
- Methodological Knowledge: Familiarity with Agile methodologies, alongside an understanding of traditional waterfall approaches. Certification or working knowledge of frameworks such as TOGAF, ITIL, ISEB, PRINCE2, or MSP is advantageous.
