We are looking for an experienced IT Systems and Services Manager to lead the enhancement and delivery of our dynamic digital environment, supporting research, teaching, learning, and operational excellence.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Interim Director of IT, you will hold a pivotal strategic and operational leadership position, steering the implementation of the business school’s IT vision. You’ll oversee a multidisciplinary team of IT specialists across systems, networks, audio-visual (AV) services, and the service desk. Your role will focus on delivering reliable, secure, and user-centric IT services. Acting as Deputy to the Interim Director of IT, you will play a crucial part in shaping the IT infrastructure, fostering innovation, and meeting departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of IT systems and services across the School.
  • Managing strategic IT projects that create meaningful business impact, ensuring timely execution and alignment with stakeholder expectations.
  • Serving as a key advisor on digital strategy to the Interim Director of IT and other senior leaders.
  • Ensuring consistent service availability, data security, and user support across a hybrid infrastructure comprising cloud services, AV systems, and bespoke applications.
  • Inspiring, mentoring, and managing a diverse IT team in a fast-paced, academic environment.

About You:

We are seeking a proactive and approachable leader with technical expertise and excellent interpersonal skills. You should bring:

  • Proven experience in IT management, preferably within a Higher Education setting.
  • A track record of leading successful strategic IT initiatives and managing high-performing teams.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge in key areas such as Windows/Mac environments, Microsoft 365, Azure cloud services, network management, AV systems, and virtualisation.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across all organizational levels.
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification, or equivalent experience at Level 7.

Additional Information:

This is a temporary position providing cover for up to six months, ending upon the return of the substantive postholder. Any extension to this period will depend on operational need and approval.
