About the Role
The Royal College of Art’s Library is recruiting for a highly organised and collaborative Journals & E-Resources Librarian to join its team within the Education and Student Success Directorate. This is a key role within the Collections & Systems strand, where you will oversee the management of the Library’s print journal and electronic resource collections, providing seamless access to scholarly content that supports teaching, research, and creative practice across the College’s three campuses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of print journal and e-resource subscriptions, including licences and renewals.
- Ensure reliable access to e-journals, databases, and online platforms.
- Monitor usage statistics and present data to inform decision-making processes.
- Manage budgets and track expenditure for journals and e-resources.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and sector partners, such as Jisc.
- Promote the Library’s resources by creating guides, delivering training, and engaging in communication activities.
- Contribute to Library enquiry services and collaborative projects.
Please note, the position is primarily based on campus, with opportunities for occasional home working by agreement. The role also includes evening and Saturday shifts on a rota basis.
About You:
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A professional library or information science qualification.
- Proven experience managing journals and e-resources in an academic or specialist library.
- Strong skills in budget management and usage data analysis.
- Solid understanding of e-resource access and developments in academic publishing.
- Exceptional organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
An interest in contemporary art, design, and culture would be advantageous.
