About Us

The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) is instrumental in enriching the quality, innovation, and impact of education at UEL. Operating within the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Experience, CELT collaborates with Schools, professional services, and external organisations to elevate teaching, learning, and assessment across the University.

CELT integrates academic development, learning technologies, and educational innovation to support curriculum transformation and champion inclusive practices. By partnering with academic colleagues, we design evidence-based approaches to teaching and assessment, enhance staff development, and advance digital proficiency and the effective use of learning technologies.

As UEL progresses toward its Vision 2028 strategy, emphasizing a careers-first education approach, CELT plays a key role in promoting pedagogy-driven use of digital technologies. This includes technology-enhanced active learning, digital collaboration tools, and emerging innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR).

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking professional to join CELT as a Learning Technology Advisor. In this vital role, you’ll provide expert support and guidance on learning technologies across the University.

Collaborating closely with the Senior Learning Technology Advisor, you will contribute to institutional priorities in digital education, curriculum transformation, and technology-enhanced active learning. Serving as the primary point of contact for academic staff, you will provide operational guidance and play a key part in delivering technology projects and initiatives.

As a Learning Technology Advisor, you’ll act as a critical bridge between CELT, Schools, and IT Services, ensuring learning technology is implemented in a pedagogically sound, accessible, and sustainable manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted training and frontline support to academic and professional staff, helping integrate the University’s core TEL systems.
  • Develop resources and guidance to enhance digital education and technology-enhanced learning.
  • Provide expert advice on leveraging learning technologies effectively, including virtual learning environments, generative AI tools, collaboration platforms, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with Schools, CELT colleagues, and IT Services to implement, enhance, and develop learning technologies.
  • Contribute to planning, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts related to digital education and learning technologies.

About You

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and supporting technology-enhanced learning within higher education or a similar environment. You should understand how digital tools and platforms can effectively support teaching, learning, and assessment in inclusive and engaging ways.

You will excel at collaborating with academic colleagues, professional services teams, and stakeholders, offering expert advice and translating pedagogical needs into tailored digital solutions. Experience working on digital education projects and helping colleagues develop their digital teaching practices is essential.

As part of the CELT team, you will leverage your expertise in learning technology, contributing to collaborative efforts and ensuring solutions are accessible, pedagogically grounded, and aligned with institutional priorities. A commitment to ensuring accessible, inclusive education—and advancing innovation in teaching and learning—must be at the heart of your work.
