Embedded within the museum is the Hamilton Kerr Institute (HKI), an eminent subdivision distinguished as one of the premier institutions globally for paintings conservation and heritage science education and research.
The Documentary Photographer position is vital for the Photographic Department’s success, ensuring top-grade photography and imaging of the museum’s collections, especially targeting pieces that have not yet been photographed. This role requires adherence to best practices and methodologies and provides support across multiple departments, such as curatorial services, learning, conservation, science, exhibitions, and digital initiatives, aligning with the Fitzwilliam Museum’s objectives.
The appointed individual will play a critical role in delivering an extensive, superior photographic service and will closely cooperate with the Image Library to fulfill internal and external imaging requests, as well as partnering with the Documentation team to augment the accessibility of collections through images furnished for the Collections catalogue and Search.
