About the Role

Queen’s University Belfast is seeking a Digitalisation Project Engineer to support innovation by applying their expertise to the challenges faced by industry and society.

The successful candidate will contribute to AMIC’s advanced manufacturing initiatives by developing and implementing solutions aligned with industry needs. This role is integral to delivering projects at the state-of-the-art “Factory of the Future” facility, which aims to address broader societal challenges through world-class innovation.

Working closely with senior engineering professionals, you will collaborate with academics, technology providers, national technology centres, and industry partners on pioneering projects in advanced manufacturing. This role encompasses the application of leading-edge technologies, including software and hardware systems, to deliver best practices in digitalisation and engineering disciplines.


About You

To be successful, you must meet the following essential criteria (and demonstrate these in your application):

  • Educational Attainment:

– Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering, science, or related discipline, OR
– Minimum HND in a similar discipline, with significant and recent relevant industrial experience.

  • Experience:

Recent experience in at least one of the following areas:
– Embedded/Edge/Sensor devices and technology
– Cybersecurity
– Virtualisation, infrastructure, or networking
– AI applications relevant to manufacturing use cases
– Manufacturing Software Systems
– Digital Twin Technologies
– Cloud technologies (e.g., cloud-based databases, data analytics, data visualisation)

Relevant experience within the manufacturing domain can include demonstrated work in industry or applicable projects.

  • Key Skills & Capabilities:

– Proven ability to deliver projects to timelines and budgets.
– Experience in using advanced research/industrial tools and methodologies to produce high-quality projects and reports.
